Guidelines for Authors
The journal Apuntes de Ciencia e Ingeniería is an open-access and multidisciplinary publication that offers authors the opportunity to publish in all fundamental and interdisciplinary thematic areas of both science and engineering. The journal accepts articles that contribute to new knowledge through the dissemination and discussion of research advances.
Apuntes de Ciencia e Ingeniería welcomes three types of contributions:
- Scientific and technological research articles: These articles aim to thoroughly compile theoretical contributions, research project results, use cases, technological transfer processes, and industrial implementation.
- Review articles: This type of article compiles results from research processes that present literature reviews with at least 50 references. These reviews must include information analysis, systematic reviews, identification of advances and trends, positive and negative findings, as well as the identification of gaps and future research directions derived from the literature review.
- Reflection articles: These articles compile results from research processes that include an analytical, interpretative, or critical perspective from the author's point of view on a specific topic, based on reliable sources of information.
All manuscripts or submitted articles are first evaluated by the editorial committee to determine whether they align with the scope of science and engineering. Once this stage is passed, authors are notified about the continuation of the process, which involves peer review, or about the non-acceptance of the submission, with the corresponding justification.
Recommendations:
- It is recommended that figures and tables have the highest possible resolution.
- References must be submitted in IEEE style, ensuring that they have been correctly cited in the article and, when possible, include a DOI.
- It is advisable that the submitted article includes as much affiliation information as possible for the authors, including their ORCID identifier. Additionally, the article should include an email address for each author to facilitate communication during the review process.
During the review phase, statements related to our ethics and integrity policies may be requested. These statements may include any of the following elements:
- Data availability statement.
- Funding statement.
- Conflict of interest disclosure.
- Ethics approval statement.
- Patient consent statement.
- Permission to reproduce material from other sources.
- Clinical trial registration.
These measures are implemented to maintain high ethical standards and rigor in the consideration of the article for publication.
How to publish in the journal?
- It is recommended to consult the "About" option in the main menu to obtain information on the journal’s scope, ongoing call for papers, editorial team, privacy statement, and contact information.
- Next, authors should review the "Author Guidelines" section to determine the type of contribution to be submitted and to learn the recommendations for preparing the manuscript.
- To submit an article, authors must "Register" on the journal platform. If they already have an account, they can "Log in" directly and begin the submission process.
